Originally published in Forbes by our founder Tom Daly, this article tackles one of the most under-acknowledged threats to transformation: internal doubt.

New findings from my organization for our Q4 2024 "Adrift or Aligned? The State of Business Transformation" report reveal a troubling signal: 28% of employees across 1,300 surveyed companies doubt whether their workforce ranks among the industry's best.
This internal skepticism can strand even the most well-charted transformation.
Doubt corrodes morale. It stifles innovation, clouds decision making and undermines credibility. The most ambitious transformation plans can lose momentum.
Leaders often discover these “doubt gaps” too late, after resistance surfaces and results sputter. At that point, the transformation becomes more about repair than readiness. It doesn’t have to be that way.
